under piles of rubble
under towers of corpses
is a monument
for every dying ember
for every crumbled bridge
the cure we most desire
lies in a place besieged
boots split the ground

where few have witnessed

a dirge like steps upon the briars
is heard and in a moment gone
from grief at rest its tune transpires
the send-off of a mournful soul
and if by chance or will I were to sire
such wounds as unconcerned retort
should my design then be to expire
and turn the coil to monstrous tort?
lost in a moment
cold and remiss
no words of parting
no final heartfelt kiss
a doleful morning
that drags you down
etched in white marble
it pulls and drags and drowns
decay, anguish, death
the inhumane judgements you abhor
displayed at your feet to mark forever
our march towards the inevitable
grieve
grieve for your loss
corral the congregation
gathered in veiled remorse
trapped by rotten guilt
hostage of hope won't move on
past your own dereliction
crane your neck to see
over the edge of the grave
you dug too deep to escape
I feel the same
swept by your sight I remain
dispersed among feelings of shame
for every tear
every time that I hurt you lays bare
the hurt I could never repair
maybe we fall like raindrops
and we wait to collide
and our cautious emotions
are motionless tides
all that remains
all those times we divided and shared
I cherish them more than I care to admit

I imagine this being found as a dusty, black labeled test pressing, smelling of bongwater and dried blood... They warp a Neil Young song brilliantly (I think he would approve). And I could see “Children Of The Sun” on the back end of Volume 4.
